Close down all illegal wildlife sales in Indonesia. The wildlife belongs in the wild. Indonesian Law No. 5/1990 says: Every person who kill, capture, keep protected species (alive or dead) can be sentenced to five years in jail and fine of IDR100 million (US$7,400.00).
A pitiful pangolin cub returned back in the wild habitat (December 13, 2017)
Posted on 17:15 December 14th, 2017

Four pangolins were captured by an illegal poacher in the forest area near Stabat, the capital city of Langkat district in North Sumatra province. The four animals had been kept by the poacher at his home in Stabat where he had the intention of trading them on the black market.

Before trading the pangolins, the police obtained information about this crime. Local police arrested the poacher and confiscated the four pangolins. The police intended to keep these pangolins as evidence in the proceedings of the legal case. Sadly, three of the pangolins died, with only one survivor.  Having seen how vulnerable the animals were in police care, they asked the Wildlife Authority (BBKSDA) in North Sumatra to take the pangolin for release.

The BBKSDA and Scorpion finally took the pangolin from the police and released him in the forest of Sibolangit. This pangolin cub, who had been separated from his dead parent, finally regained his freedom, after being released by Scorpion with BBKSDA on Wednesday at midnight (13th of December 2017). Hopefully, this pangolin can find new friends in Sibolangit where some pangolins have previously been released.
